In 2017 COPPERSTONE started our very own Talent Search competition to give upcoming artists a platform to showcase their talent. The Top 12 were chosen based on audio and video recordings we received. Gauteng and Cape Town audition rounds followed, with a Top 8 semi-finalists announced after audition rounds. The Top 5 were announced after our Women’s Day event. The Top 5 were judged at a live show and at our Gentleman Club Event, followed by the final Top 4 finalists announcement on 11 September.
Numerous live performances, charity events and outreach projects will take place during the year before the final four will battle it out for the title at COPPERSTONE’s Gala Event on Saturday 4 November at Indaba Hotel & Spa. The winner will record a new single, win a management and publicity contract and will perform their new single live at the Gala Event.
TOP 4 FINALISTS 2017
FINALIST 1: ABBOTT SKY
Area of residence: Pretoria.
Friends and family would describe me as … Outgoing, kind, a tad crazy, loud and very friendly!
What makes me unique: I believe everyone is unique in their own way, however, there are a few things that make me unique – my personality is one in a million, my culture and beliefs made me who I am today, my past experiences made me strong and I think all my quirky habits are cool.
Quotes I live by: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” and “She was fierce, she was strong. She wasn’t simple, she was crazy and sometimes she barely slept. She always had something to say, she had flaws and that was ok! And when she was down, she got right back up, she was a beast in her own way, but one idea described her best, she was unstoppable and she took everything she wanted with a smile!”
Best advice I’ve ever received: Perfect practice makes a perfect performance.
What people do not know about me: I can easily (and will if I could) eat sushi every day of the week.
Charity involvement means … That you are part of something bigger than yourself. It is where you decide to give back to people in need in an unselfish way, where you expect nothing but thankfulness in return.
The biggest accomplishment in my life to date: Without a doubt that I’m a qualified teacher and in a up-and-coming band with my best friend and band partner, Rohan.

Area of residence: Capital Park, Pretoria.
Occupation: Auto-electrician (Earthmoving Equipment).
Friends and family would describe me as … Outgoing, hyper, funny, loyal and fun with a HUGE love and passion for people, music, my wife and animals.
What makes me unique: It must be because I’m built like a model! Jokes aside, it would be my loyalty and love for the people closest to me.
Quote you live by: “Never quit”.
Best advice I’ve ever received: To never quit and be consistent in everything I do.
What do people not know about me: I can whip up the most delicious, creamy cheese sauce on this planet!
Charity involved means … giving without expecting something in return. Services, money, food and most importantly your time.
The biggest accomplishment in my life to date: That I pushed through not matter the circumstances, continued to study, qualified and continued to build a music career.

FINALIST 2: ANDREA
Area of residence: Hartbeespoortdam.
Occupation: Teacher to homeschooled children.
Friends and family would describe me as … A go-getter.
What makes me unique: There are many things but most importantly, I have a very caring heart and when I perform a task, I always do it to the best of my ability.
Quotes I live by: “Dreams don’t work unless you do” and “Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that is the one that is going to help you grow”.
Best advice I’ve ever received: Everything happens for a reason, good/ bad or ugly. Just figure it out, learn from it, and move on. I also believe to always do your best.
What people don’t know about me: I started dancing at the age of four and went on to be part of the South African Ballet School where I performed in several productions. Apart from this, I am a mommy to a four-year-old girl, a part-time dance teacher, choreographer and I juggle three jobs!
Charity involvement means … That I can become less of ‘myself’ but more of ‘others’. It also means to give something to someone else without expecting anything back.
The biggest accomplishment in my life: Without a doubt dancing in America and opening for Bobby van Jaarsveld and ADAM.

FINALIST 3: JAMIE
Area of residence: Fourways.
Occupation: I am in Grade 10 at Fourways High School.
Friends and family would describe me as … Shy, but once I’m in my comfort zone I am loud and confrontational, a tad lazy and funny – I guess I have many sides to my persona.
What makes me unique: I can sleep like the dead, I sing constantly (which drives everyone insane, but in my defence, I do it without knowing!), and my nickname is Sid, as in Sid the sloth from Ice Age because I’m apparently slow, lazy and sleepy.
Quote I live by: “You are more than you know”.
Best advice I’ve ever received: Always do your best, be honest and real – I try to live my life accordingly.
What people do not know about me: Although singing is and will always be my main passion, makeup artistry is a very close second. I live off You Tube makeup tutorials where perhaps I should rather be studying!
Charity involvement means … Although I am still young – there are many charities that I would like to raise awareness of – underprivileged children mean a lot to me and makes me realise how lucky I am to have a warm bed, food on the table and loving parents.
The biggest accomplishment in my life to date: The opportunity to enter Copperstone’s Talent Search competition, creating awareness about who I am as a person and to expose the talent I have.

What makes me unique: When I sing I can make you believe and feel what I sing.
Quote I live by: “No one is better than the other … just different.”
Best advice I’ve ever received: When you start doing something that you love – even though you put in blood, sweat and tears to get to a level of excellence – it ultimately does not feel like work … it is love.
What people don’t know about me: I only had my first vocal class at 30!
Charity involvement means … Giving back with a grateful heart.
The biggest accomplishment in my life: Being a top 6 finalist in Copperstone’s Talent Search competition.
